GinCode exists to discover and promote African technology talent. Too much of it is never seen — not for want of skill, but for want of a stage and a credential an employer will take seriously. GinCode is the stage: a hackathon and coding-competition platform built and operated by GinCode in Kampala, Uganda.
Organisations — universities, startups and tech communities — host events on it, and developers register, form teams, and submit real projects before a deadline. Every submission is scored against the criteria the organiser published, results and rankings go to a public leaderboard, and every participant receives a certificate that anyone can verify by its ID. That record is the point: a developer leaves an event with public, checkable proof of what they built, and the companies hiring across Africa and beyond get somewhere to look.
You can create a GinCode account with an email address and password, or by signing in with Google. Choosing Google is optional and exists so you don’t have to manage another password.
When you sign in with Google we ask for three basic permissions — openid, email and profile. We use your name and profile picture to identify you on your profile, your team and the leaderboard, and your email address to sign you in and to send you event notifications such as registration confirmations, submission deadlines and results.
We request no other access to your Google Account. GinCode cannot read your Gmail, your Drive files, your Calendar or your contacts. We do not sell your data or use it for advertising, and you can revoke GinCode’s access at any time from your Google Account permissions page.
